Sex Trafficking Exists to Satiate the Demand Porn Creates

If there are even any readers beyond that title, can I preface with a few comments? Dear ones, men and women, who are married to spouses who struggle with pornography, I am so so sorry. I can only imagine how much pain you feel. I know how hard you've worked to keep the secret, while trying to get help for your loved one. I know the burden you carry, the constant questions about yourself, your own beauty. And I know how hard this is to read. My husband counsels so so many in the church just like you. And we have walked the road with our fair share of friends. For those of you blessed in ignorance, you need to know how common it is. The assault waged against our sexuality. It is fierce. The average age of a man's exposure to porn is age 12. In fact, 9 out of 10 boys are exposed before the age of 18. And in the church? 50% of men and 20% of women report they are addicted to porn. 24% of all smartphone users admit they have porn on their devices. We are naive to believe it does not impact our church, our friends, perhaps our own marriage.

And here's the thing. Oh, it's so hard to say this. To tell you. But friends, pornography is about the murder of women.

And while typical Western men may not involve themselves in physical murder, to use someone else for one's own pleasure robs her dignity and repeals her humanity. It strips her not only of her clothing but of the image-bearing glory of her femininity, and reduces her to little more than an object. Pornography, therefore, is more than the objectification of a woman. In the end, it seeks to destroy her. END: Engaging Men to End Sex Trafficking

Most don't think of it like that. It's a victimless crime. A hobby. I really don't believe the majority of men who love God and struggle with addiction to porn realize they are destroying femininity. But it gets worse. The addiction worsens, requiring younger women-girls and more deviant acts. And then...

What a man views on screen he then enacts with girls he buys. What he has seen in 2D he now demands in 3D. Pornography plays such an important role in trafficking that pimps force their girls to watch it to "receive an education" about how to better service their men. Porn is the vortex at the center of the sex industry. Trafficking exists to satiate the demand pornography creates. Porn is the training ground for the sexual exploitation of women and children. END: Engaging Men to End Sex Trafficking

Let that sink in for a minute. Porn is the training ground...

But there is hope. There is healing. And help is yours.
